Bundle of Sticks Lodge No. 9912

Membership

Who can join, what to expect, and how the festive board works.

Taking the first steps

Becoming a Freemason is a progression. You join as an Entered Apprentice, and it typically takes one or two years to become a Master Mason, with each of the three stages marked by a special ceremony.

Am I eligible?

Any man over the age of 21 may join, regardless of ethnic group, political views, economic standing or religion, although he is expected to have a faith. Students over 18 can join one of 73 Universities Scheme Lodges. The United Grand Lodge of England oversees lodges in England, Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, whilst Scotland and Ireland have their own Grand Lodges.

How do I join?

Complete the contact form. We will review your details and get in touch, and we are happy to answer your questions.

The festive board

The festive board is a meal eaten after a lodge meeting has finished. In lodges under the United Grand Lodge of England it is a formal sit-down dinner with many wine takings, toasts and speeches. It is tyled at certain points, and has "Masonic Fire", which possibly derives from military customs of bygone times. As a Bonfire lodge, we also have our refreshing Bonfire Prayers.

The white table

The aim of a white table is to stimulate an interest in Freemasonry among wives, family and friends, and to dispel any fears and misconceptions that stop suitable candidates from seeking membership. It also brings us together during festive periods.
